Ulmus Lobel is a variety of Dutch Elm tree grown for its colourful foliage and narrow form. The leaves emerge a fresh green colour in spring, age to become dark green, then develop impressive yellow and orange tones in autumn before falling. Clusters of green flowers are borne in spring and add another element of interest to this plant. It grows initially with a columnar form and tends to broaden as it matures, eventually reaching 15 m tall and 8 m wide. Best results with this tree are achieved when it is planted in full sun on a well-drained site with some shelter. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, poor soils, dry periods, and coastal environments. Ulmus Lobel is commonly grown as a specimen or used in avenue plantings.
