Ulmus Frontier, commonly known as the Frontier Elm tree, is grown for its broad canopy and colourful foliage. The leaves emerge a mid-green colour in spring, age to dark green, then develop burgundy red tones in autumn before falling. The Frontier Elm tree grows with a rounded head to about 12 m tall and 8 m wide though can be trimmed as necessary. Ulmus Frontier is commonly grown as a specimen and is perfect for avenue planting.

Ulmus Frontier Details

Ulmus Frontier, commonly known as the Frontier Elm tree, is grown for its broad canopy and colourful foliage. The leaves emerge a mid-green colour in spring, age to dark green, then develop burgundy red tones in autumn before falling. The Frontier Elm tree grows with a rounded head to about 12 m tall and 8 m wide though can be trimmed as necessary. Best results with this tree are achieved when it is planted in full sun on a well-drained site with some shelter. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, coastal conditions, poor soils, and dry periods. Ulmus Frontier is commonly grown as a specimen and is perfect for avenue planting.
