Tilia tomentosa is a fabulous specimen tree owing to its rich foliage and great form. The lush, heart-shaped leaves emerge lime green in spring, quickly age to dark green with silver undersides, then develop yellow tones in autumn before falling. The silver colouring provides a shimmering display in a gentle breeze. It grows with a single trunk and conical shape to eventually reaches 25 m tall and 10 m wide. Tilia tomentosa is a highly aesthetic and elegant tree that is commonly grown as a specimen, used in avenue plantings, or included in a mixed planting in a larger garden.

Tilia tomentosa is a fabulous specimen tree owing to its rich foliage and great form. The lush, heart-shaped leaves emerge lime green in spring, quickly age to dark green with silver undersides, then develop yellow tones in autumn before falling. The silver colouring provides a shimmering display in a gentle breeze. Fragrant, yellow flowers in summer are great for attracting bees and other fauna. It grows with a single trunk and conical shape to eventually reaches 25 m tall and 10 m wide. The crown tends to broaden out as it matures. It performs best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site, and is tolerant of frost, cool climates, and dry periods.
