Tilia × europaea is a deciduous tree grown for its lush foliage and tidy form. The leaves emerge lime green in spring, quickly age to dark green, then develop tones in autumn before falling. The foliage is complemented with small, yellow flowers in summer which are great for attracting bees. It grows with a single trunk and a rounded crown to reach 5 m tall and 4 m wide. It performs best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site, and is tolerant of frost, cool climates, and dry periods. This highly aesthetic tree is commonly grown as a specimen, used in avenue plantings, or included in a mixed planting in a larger garden.
