Acmena smithii

Acmena smithii, otherwise known as Syzygium smithii or Lilly Pilly, is a small, evergreen tree featuring colourful and glossy foliage. It grows with an erect habit carrying dense, dark green leaves with new foliage having a distinct shade of red. It produces masses of white blossoms through summer which are great for attracting birds and result in dark pink-red berries in autumn. This is a fast-growing tree that will reach about 6-10 m tall and 4 m wide though it is easily contained with trimming. It performs best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site, though it will tolerate extended dry periods, coastal environments, and moderate frost. Acmena smithii is commonly trimmed into a hedge, grown as a specimen, added to a mixed planting, or used for screening and shelter.
