Variegated Lilly Pilly

The Variegated Lilly Pilly, scientifically known as Syzygium australe variegata, is a small, evergreen tree. It grows as an erect, columnar habit carrying dense, glossy foliage that has green and cream variegation, with new growth having a pink colouring. Through summer it produces masses of white blossoms which are great for attracting birds. The flowers result in dark pink-red berries in autumn. This is a fast-growing tree that will reach about 8 m tall and 4 m wide but can be trimmed as necessary. Best performance with this plant is achieved when it is grown on a well-drained site in full sun. It is hardy and drought resistant once established and can be grown in coastal environments. The Variegated Lilly Pilly is commonly grown as a dense hedge, as a specimen, added to a mixed planting, used for screening, or as a windbreak.
