Schefflera digitata Details

Schefflera digitata, commonly known as the Seven Finger Plant or Pate Seven Finger, is a small, NZ native tree grown for its showy and glossy foliage. This spreading tree features leaves that are made up of seven leaflets, hence the common name. New foliage emerges light green with pink-red veins and ages to become dark green. It produces green-white flowers in summer which are followed by purple berries in autumn that are great for attracting birds. It typically grows to 6 m tall and 4 m wide and can easily be contained with trimming which encourages new growth. Best results with this plant are achieved when it is grown in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained, sheltered site, though it will tolerate dry periods and moderate frost. The Seven Finger Tree is commonly used in tropical gardens, planted alongside water features such as streams, included in a mixed planting, or planted around outdoor living areas if space permits.
