Robinia Bellas Gold, commonly known as the Black Locust tree, is a deciduous tree grown for its colourful foliage and lovely form. The fern-like foliage emerges light yellow-green in spring, ages to become golden yellow, then turns varying shades of yellow in autumn before falling. The lush leaves are borne off spiny, brick red stems that are held with a gentle arch. It typically grows to 4 m tall and the same wide, and can be trimmed as necessary. It grows best when planted in full sun on a well-drained, semi-sheltered site, and is tolerant of frost, cool climates, and dry periods.
