Raukawa
Raukaua edgerleyi, commonly known as raukawa, is an evergreen tree native to New Zealand, found from coastal to montane forests across the country. It grows 10 to 12 metres tall with rough pale bark and a rounded canopy. Juvenile leaves are deeply lobed and compound, maturing into glossy, aromatic adult leaves. Small greenish flowers appear in spring, followed by purple fruit that attract birds. Raukawa thrives in moist, humus-rich soil and is well suited to forest restoration and shaded native plantings.
