Quercus laurina is commonly grown as a specimen in large gardens and parks with the added advantage of fantastic summer shade. It is also now being increasingly used for training along wires as either an espaliered or pleached tree.

The foliage is held off slender branches which are quite malleable. Small, yellow-green flowers in spring produce brown acorns in autumn. This majestic beauty typically grows to 18 m tall and 8 m wide with a rounded crown. It performs best when planted on a well-drained site in full sun, though it is tolerant of frost, cool climates, heavy soils, and some wind. Quercus laurina is commonly grown as a specimen in large gardens and parks with the added advantage of fantastic summer shade.
