Quercus cerris, commonly known as the Turkey Oak tree, is a deciduous tree that features colourful and lush foliage. The foliage emerges light green in spring, ages to dark green, then develops impressive yellow and brown tones in autumn before falling. Small, yellow-green flowers in spring produce brown acorns in autumn. The Turkey Oak tree typically grows to 30 m tall and 15 m wide with a rounded and somewhat open crown. It performs best when planted on a well-drained site in full sun, and is tolerant of frost, cool climates, heavy soils, and some wind. Quercus cerris is commonly grown as a specimen in large gardens and parks with the added advantage of fantastic summer shade.
