Quercus canariensis (Oak) Details

This variety of Oak is a stately, deciduous tree with colourful autumn foliage. The lush foliage emerges light green in spring, ages to become dark green, then develops impressive yellow and brown tones in autumn before falling. Small, yellow-green flowers in spring result in brown acorns in autumn. This majestic beauty typically grows to 20 m tall and 10 m wide with a rounded crown. It grows best when planted in full sun on a well-drained, semi-sheltered site, and is tolerant of frost, cool climates, heavy soils, urban pollution, and dry periods. This Oak is commonly grown as a specimen in large gardens and parks where it will provide wonderful summer shade and fabulous autumn colours.
