Quercus afares, commonly known as the Algerian Oak or African Oak, is a large, deciduous tree with lovely, colourful foliage. The Algerian Oak typically grows to 20 m tall and 10 m wide with a rounded, open growth habit. The foliage emerges light green in spring, ages to dark green, then develops impressive orange and red tones in autumn before falling. Small, yellow-green flowers in spring produce brown acorns in autumn. Quercus afares is commonly grown as a specimen in large gardens and parks where it will provide wonderful summer shade and fabulous autumn colours.

Quercus afares, commonly known as the Algerian Oak or African Oak, is a large, deciduous tree with lovely, colourful foliage. The Algerian Oak typically grows to 20 m tall and 10 m wide with a rounded, open growth habit. The foliage emerges light green in spring, ages to dark green, then develops impressive orange and red tones in autumn before falling.
