Pyrus ussuriensis

Pyrus ussuriensis is an Ornamental Pear grown for its flowering, tidy form and autumn colours. It features glossy foliage which emerges with bronze tones in spring, ages to become mid-green, then develops bright red colours in autumn before falling. Masses of white flowers are borne in spring just as the leaves emerge which result in small, inedible fruits. This deciduous tree produces a broad and rounded crown as it reaches 10 m tall and 6 m wide. It performs best when positioned in full sun on a well-drained site, though it is tolerant of frost, cool climates, some wind, and periods of dry. This Ornamental Pear is commonly used in avenue plantings, grown as specimen, or added to a mixed planting in a larger garden.
