Pyrus Kea is flowering pear tree grown for its flowering, tidy form, and autumn colours. It features deep green, wavy foliage that develops burgundy red-brown tones in autumn before falling. Masses of single, white flowers are borne in spring just as the leaves emerge. This flowering pear tree grows initially with a pyramidal habit but later develops a broad crown, typically reaching 10 m tall and 6 m wide. Best results with this tree are achieved when it is planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, wind, dry periods, and heavy soils. Pyrus Kea is commonly used for street or avenue planting, grown as specimen, or added to a mixed planting in a larger garden.
