Podocarpus totara 'Aurea' Care Tips

Golden Tōtara is low-maintenance but benefits from care when young. Water regularly during dry spells in the first year to establish a strong root system. Apply mulch around the base to suppress weeds and retain moisture. Light pruning in late winter or early spring can enhance its shape and density. For the best golden colour, plant it in full sun. Feed annually with a slow-release fertiliser in spring. Above all else, ensure the soil is well-drained to prevent root rot.
