Metrosideros bartlettii, or Bartlett’s Rata, is one of New Zealand’s rarest native trees, notable for its clusters of creamy-white flowers and attractive grey-green foliage. Growing 6–10 metres tall, it has a rounded, upright form and flowers in summer. Native to Northland, this endangered species is suited to sheltered, frost-free gardens with well-drained soil. Bartlett’s Rātā makes a striking feature tree and adds conservation value to native plantings with its unique colour and heritage.
