Malus niedzwetzkyana is a variety of Crabapple that bears masses of red buds that open to reveal showy, single, pink-red flowers that literally transform the tree in spring. These result in medium-sized, red-orange fruit in autumn. The foliage emerges green in spring, ages to a darker green, then develops yellow tones in autumn before falling as it grows to 5 m tall and the same wide. Malus niedzwetzkyana is commonly grown as an impressive specimen, added to a mixed planting, or included anywhere it can be appreciated.
