Malus Kaitoke Details

Malus Kaitoke is a variety of Crabapple grown for its flowering, colourful fruits, and pendulous growth habit. Through spring it bears masses of pink buds that open into single, dark pink flowers. These result in small, purple fruit in autumn which attract all manner of wildlife. The foliage in spring emerges red, ages to green, and then develops yellow tones in autumn before falling. The branches are held with a pendulous manner atop a sturdy trunk. It typically grows to 3 m tall and the same wide and can be trimmed as necessary. Malus Kaitoke performs best when grown in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site that does not dry out. It is tolerant of frost and cool climates. This Crabapple is commonly grown as an impressive specimen, added to a mixed planting, or included anywhere it can be appreciated.
