Malus John Downie

Malus John Downie is a variety of Crabapple that bears masses of pink buds that open into showy, single, white flowers that literally transform the tree in spring. These result in small, orange-red fruit in autumn. The foliage in spring emerges green, ages to a darker green, and then develops yellow tones in autumn before falling as it grows to 5 m tall and 4 m wide. Malus John Downie is commonly grown as an impressive specimen, added to a mixed planting, or included anywhere it can be appreciated.
