“Flamingo” is a variety of Crabapple grown for its flowering, colourful fruit, and narrow form. It bears masses of showy, deep-pink flowers through spring. These result in small, purple fruit in autumn which attract all manner of wildlife. The foliage emerges with a red tint, ages to dark green with bronze undertones during summer, then develops colourful red tones in autumn before falling. It typically grows to 4 m tall and 1 m wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site, that does not dry out. It is tolerant of frost and cool climates. “Flamingo” is commonly grown as a specimen, added to a mixed planting, included in cottage gardens, or used to border an entrance.
