Malus Ballerina Samba Details

The Ballerina series of Crabapple trees have a tight, columnar growth habit and reach just 40 cm wide which is quite unique. They are often maintained at any height between 1 and 4 m tall. Samba is one of the varieties and features large and frilly, double, dark pink flowers. These result in orange fruit with a red blush in autumn which are great for making jelly and attracting birds. The foliage in spring emerges a fresh green, ages to a darker green, and then develops yellow and orange tones in autumn before falling. Best results with this variety are achieved when grown in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site that does not dry out. It is tolerant of frost and cool climates. Ballerina Samba is commonly grown against wall and fences, used to line a path, planted as a backdrop to smaller plants, included in a mixed planting, or maintained in a container.
