Magnolia stellata, commonly known as the Star Magnolia or Starry Magnolia, is grown for its flowers and compact growth. Dark pink flower buds open in spring to reveal star shaped, white flowers. The fragrant blooms appear just before the lush, green leaves emerge. The leaves age to become dark green then develop yellow tones in autumn before falling. It typically grows to 3 m tall and the same wide and can be trimmed as necessary.
