“Rosea” is a lovely variety of Magnolia grown for its flowers and compact growth. Dark pink flower buds open in spring to reveal fragrant, star shaped pink flowers which fade to white with age. The blooms appear just before the lush green leaves emerge. It typically grows to 6 m tall and 4 m wide, and can be trimmed as necessary. This variety grows best when planted in full sun on a well-drained, semi-sheltered site, and is tolerant of frost and cool climates. “Rosea” makes for a lovely specimen, and is commonly added a mixed planting, used in avenue plantings, or planted as a cluster for a stunning display. The beauty of this tree will please no matter where it is planted.
