“Russet” is a small, evergreen tree with spectacular flowers and foliage. It produces masses of large and showy, cream-white flowers through spring. The mildly fragrant flowers are borne amidst the glossy, dark green leaves which serve as a lovely backdrop. It grows densely with a somewhat narrow shape to about 6 m tall and 4 m wide, and can be trimmed as necessary. This variety performs best when planted in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site, and is tolerant of moderate frost and short periods of dry. “Russet” makes for a lovely specimen in large gardens and parks, and is also commonly used in avenue or street plantings.
