“Royal Star” is a variety of the commonly known, Star Magnolia, and is grown for its flowers and compact growth. Dark pink flower buds open in spring to reveal star shaped, white flowers. It typically grows to 5 m tall and 4 m wide, and can be trimmed as necessary. This variety grows best when planted in full sun on a well-drained, semi-sheltered site, and is tolerant of frost and cool climates. The Star Magnolia in commonly grown as a specimen, added to a mixed planting, included in a cottage garden, or planted as a cluster for a stunning display. The beauty of this tree will please no matter where it is planted.
