Magnolia denudata Details

Magnolia denudata, commonly known as the Yulan Magnolia or Lily Tree, is a deciduous tree grown for its pristine flowers in spring. The exquisite flowers are fragrant and white with a hint of pink. They are borne on the naked stems before the foliage emerges and gives a truly sensational display. The foliage emerges dark green in spring, remains this colour until autumn, then develops yellow tones before falling. It typically grows to 8 m tall and 6 m wide with a somewhat rounded form and can be trimmed as necessary. It grows best when planted in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site, and is tolerant of frost and cool climates. Magnolia denudata makes for a fantastic specimen tree that will also provide shade in summer. It also suits being included in “white” gardens or including in a mixed planting if space allows. The beauty of this tree will please no matter where it is planted.
