Liquidambar styraciflua Rotundiloba, commonly known as the Seedless Sweetgum Rotundiloba, is a fantastic variety of Liquidambar due to its lush and colourful foliage. Leaves emerge light green in spring, age to become glossy green, then turn burgundy red in autumn before falling. They are held densely off sturdy branches. It typically grows to 12 m tall and 6 m wide with an upright and broad habit. Best results with this tree are achieved when it is planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It is hardy to frost, cool climates, dry periods, heavier soils, and some wind, but should be protected while it is establishing to produce a better tree. Liquidambar Rotundiloba makes for a lovely specimen and is great for avenue planting, or planting to enjoy a spectacular autumn show.
