Liquidambar styraciflua, commonly known as Sweet Gum or American Sweetgum, is a popular ornamental tree due to its brilliant autumn colours. It features star-shaped leaves which emerge a rich green, darken with age, then develop a myriad of orange, red, and purple in autumn before falling. This American Sweetgum typically grows to 10 m tall and 8 m wide with an upright and broad growth habit.
