Liquidambar Moonbeam Details

Liquidambar Moonbeam is a popular variety of Liquidambar due to its beautiful foliage and brilliant autumn colours. It has star-shaped leaves which emerge light green with cream overtones, age to green, then turn a mix of pink, red, and yellow colours in autumn before falling. Small, yellow flowers appear in summer through autumn and result in hard, spiked fruits. It typically grows to 15 m tall and 8 m wide with an upright and broad growth habit. Best results with this tree are achieved when it is planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It is hardy to frost, cool climates, dry periods, heavier soils, and some wind but should be protected while it is establishing to produce a better tree. Liquidambar styraciflua Moonbeam makes for a lovely specimen and is great for avenue planting, or planting to enjoy a spectacular autumn show.
