Lagarostrobos colensoi, commonly known as manoao or silver pine, is a slow-growing, evergreen conifer native to New Zealand. Found in wet, shaded forests and peatlands, it can reach up to 15 metres tall and features fine, silver-green, scale-like foliage. Manoao thrives in cool, moist conditions and is well suited to native revegetation and forest restoration projects. Its dense, durable timber was historically valued, and the tree contributes to biodiversity and structure in high-rainfall, low-light environments across both main islands.
