The Male Idesia polycarpa tree, commonly known as Wonder Tree, carries large, heart-shaped, dark green leaves which develop yellow and red tones in autumn before falling. Plants are either male or female and both sexes produce fragrant, yellow-green flowers in summer, and only the female trees will produce the bright red berries. It grows with a pyramidal shape to about 18 m tall and 8 m wide, though can be contained with trimming.
