Commonly known as Lacebark, this is a compact and handsome, NZ native tree. It carries fresh green leaves with serrated edges and becomes smothered in white flowers in autumn. The branches are held with a somewhat pendulous manner. This evergreen typically reaches 8 m tall and 3 m wide, performing best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It will tolerate dry periods, coastal environments, heavy soils, moderate frost, and some wind, though young trees should be protected while they are establishing. This Lacebark is commonly included in a mixed planting, used in revegetation programs, planted as a quick growing shelter tree, included in riparian plantings, or grown as a specimen.
