Hamamelis x intermedia Details

Hamamelis x intermedia, commonly known as Witchhazel, is grown for its impressive flowering during late winter and early spring. The foliage emerges green, remains this colour until autumn, then develops yellow, orange, and red colourings before falling. It grows as a broad and spreading tree with a flat top to about 4 m tall and the same wide, though can be contained with trimming as necessary. Best results with this plant are achieved when it is grown in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, and extended dry periods once established. Hamamelis x intermedia is commonly grown as a specimen, used as a backdrop for smaller plants, or planted anywhere the beauty of this tree can be appreciated.
