Hamamelis Jelena is a variety of Witch Hazel grown for its impressive flowering during late winter and early spring. At this time, and before the foliage emerges, it produces masses of unusual, fragrant, bright orange flowers which literally coat the tree. The foliage is green and develops yellow, orange, and red colourings in autumn before falling. It grows as a broad and spreading tree with a flat top to about 4 m tall and the same wide. Hamamelis Jelena is commonly grown as a specimen, used as a backdrop for smaller plants, or planted anywhere the beauty of this tree can be appreciated.
