Ginkgo Saratoga Details

Ginkgo Saratoga is a variety of Ginkgo biloba that is grown for its impressive form and colourful foliage. This deciduous tree has distinctive and lush foliage which emerges dark green in spring and remains this way until autumn. As autumn progresses, the leaves develop bright yellow tones before falling, forming a golden carpet around the tree as they do. It grows with a somewhat columnar habit to about 12 m tall and 5 m wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It will tolerate frost, cool climates, heavy soils, moderate wind, and urban pollution. Ginkgo Saratoga is commonly used in street and avenue plantings, planted for shelter and screening, used as a backdrop for smaller plants, or grown as a specimen. It is also great for planting to soften a large, bland wall or for planting around water features such as ponds and streams.
