Ginkgo biloba, commonly known as the Maidenhair Tree, is a deciduous tree grown for its form, foliage, and rich autumn colours. It produces distinctive, fan-shaped, rich green leaves which turn bright yellow in autumn before falling. It typically grows to 12 m in height and 7 m in width, with an upright, rounded habit. Ginkgo biloba is commonly used in avenue plantings, grown as a specimen, included in a mixed planting, planted around water features such as ponds and streams, or used for bonsai.
