Ginkgo Autumn Gold is grown for its impressive and colourful foliage. It produces distinctive, fan-shaped, rich green leaves which turn bright yellow in autumn before falling. When the leaves fall, they form a golden carpet around the tree. It typically grows to 12 m tall and 7 m wide with an upright, rounded habit. Best results with this tree are achieved when it is grown in full sun on a well-drained site though it will tolerate frost, cool climates, heavy soils, moderate wind, and urban pollution. Ginkgo Autumn Gold is commonly used in avenue plantings, grown as a specimen, included in a mixed planting, or planted around water features such as ponds and streams.
