Fraxinus pennsylvanica, commonly known as Green Ash, is a deciduous tree grown for its impressive form and brilliant autumn colours. It features lush green leaves in summer which develop bright yellow tones in autumn before falling. This fast-growing tree grows densely with a rounded canopy to about 12 m tall and 6 m wide, growing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It tolerates dry periods, frost, cool climates, and coastal conditions. Fraxinus pennsylvanica is commonly grown as a specimen, used in avenue plantings, included in a mixed planting, or grown as a shade tree. This is a lovely tree that is both easy to grow and very rewarding.
