Eucalyptus ovata

Swamp Gum, Black Gum

Commonly known as The Swamp Gum, this is a medium sized tree with dull green leaves. White flowers appear are borne from autumn through winter and result in small, brown nuts. The bark is shed regularly to reveal a smooth, grey-white under-surface. It can reach a height of 30 metres and 10 m wide and will grow on a range of soil types including poorly drained sites. This tree is commonly used for hedging, as a wind break, for screening, or planted on marginal areas of farms where other species would struggle.
