Erythrina crista-galli, commonly known as the Coral Tree, is a small, flowering tree which is grown for its bright red flowers which make for a stunning display in summer. The flowers complement the crisp, green foliage. The flowers are rich in nectar which attracts both birds and insects. This deciduous tree typically grows to 6 m tall and 5 m wide, growing best on a well-drained site in full sun but can also be grown on heavier soils also. The Coral Tree is widely planted as a street or avenue tree, grown as a small specimen, or added to a mixed planting to provide vibrant colour. This tree is a standout and worth including for a fabulous garden.
