Cornus mas (Cornelian Cherry Dogwood)

Cornus mas, commonly known as the Cornelian Cherry Dogwood, is grown for its impressive flowering, attractive form, and autumn fruits. Small, yellow flowers adorn the tree in spring just before the leaves emerge. These result in red fruits in autumn. It grows with a single trunk and carries, lush, dark green leaves which develop impressive shades of red before falling in autumn. It typically grows to 4 m tall and 3 m wide. Cornus mas makes an excellent specimen tree and is great for including in mixed plantings, for lining an entranceway, or planting in a courtyard.
