Cornus florida Purple Glory features leaves that emerge pink-purple in spring, age to become mid-purple, then develop impressive dark red and black tones in autumn before falling. The foliage is complemented with masses of showy, pink flowers in spring which literally coat the tree just as the foliage is borne. It grows with a broad and somewhat pyramidal shape to about 4 m tall and 3 m wide. Cornus Purple Glory makes for an excellent specimen tree and is great for including in a mixed planting, growing as a specimen, using in an avenue planting, or planting to border an entrance.

Cornus florida Purple Glory is grown for its lovely flowering, attractive form, and colourful foliage. Leaves emerge pink-purple in spring, age to become mid-purple, then develop impressive dark red and black tones in autumn before falling. The foliage is complemented with masses of showy, pink flowers in spring which literally coat the tree just as the foliage is borne. It grows with a broad and somewhat pyramidal shape to about 4 m tall and 3 m wide, and can be trimmed as necessary. Best results with this small tree are achieved when it is planted in full sun on a well-drained, semi-sheltered site. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, and short periods of dry. Cornus Purple Glory makes for an excellent specimen tree and is great for including in a mixed planting, growing as a specimen, using in an avenue planting, or planting to border an entrance. With some trimming it is also well suited to planting around an outdoor living area.
