How to grow Cornus florida 'Purple Glory' in NZ

Plant Cornus florida 'Purple Glory' in fertile, well drained soil with a slightly acidic pH. It performs best in full sun to partial shade and should be positioned where it is sheltered from strong winds. Mulching around the base helps conserve moisture and maintain soil health. Regular watering during dry periods, particularly when young, ensures strong establishment. In NZ gardens, this variety thrives in temperate regions with good soil conditions.

Cornus florida 'Purple Glory' care tips

Cornus florida 'Purple Glory' requires minimal care once established. Prune lightly after flowering to shape the canopy and remove any dead or crossing branches. An annual feed in spring with a slow release fertiliser promotes strong growth and flowering. A yearly application of mulch helps suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. With these simple steps, your dogwood will reward you with beauty season after season.
