Cornus florida Old Gold is a small, deciduous tree grown for its colourful foliage. The foliage emerges golden yellow in spring, then ages to become an antique gold colour in summer. The leaves develop pale-pink tones in autumn before falling. The foliage in spring is also adorned with masses of small, white flowers. It grows with a somewhat rounded habit to about 3 m tall and the same wide, and can be trimmed as necessary. Best results with this variety are achieved when it is planted in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, and short periods of dry. Cornus Old Gold is commonly included in mixed plantings, planted around outdoor living areas, used to border an entrance, maintained in a courtyard garden, grown as a specimen, or included in cottage gardens.
