Cornus florida Cherokee Daybreak Details

Cornus florida Cherokee Daybreak is grown for its lovely flowering, attractive form, and colourful foliage. Leaves that are variegated green, cream, and pink emerge in spring, age to become darker green and cream, then develop impressive red tones in autumn before falling. The foliage is complemented with masses of showy, white flowers in spring, which are followed by red berries in autumn. It grows with a broad and somewhat rounded crown to about 5 m tall and the same wide, and can be trimmed as necessary. Best results with this small tree are achieved when it is planted in full sun on a well-drained, semi-sheltered site. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, and short periods of dry. Cornus Cherokee Daybreak makes for an excellent specimen tree and is great for including in a mixed planting, growing as a specimen, using in an avenue planting, or planting to border an entrance. With some trimming it is also well suited to planting around an outdoor living area.
