Cornus Cherokee Chief Details

Cornus Cherokee Chief is a small, deciduous tree grown for its impressive flowering and attractive form. Masses of rose-red flowers are borne in spring just as the new foliage begins to emerge. The flowers are followed by red berries in autumn which are great for attracting birds. The leaves emerge green with bronze tones in spring, age to become dark green, then develop colourful shades of red in autumn before falling. It grows with an upright and somewhat broad habit to about 12 m tall and 7 m wide and can easily be contained with trimming. Best results with this tree are achieved when it is grown in full sun on a well-drained, semi-sheltered site. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, and short periods of dry. Cornus Cherokee Chief makes a lovely specimen and is a great choice for adding to a mixed planting, using as backdrop for smaller plants, or using in an avenue planting.
