Cinnamomum camphora, commonly known as the Camphor Tree, is a picturesque, evergreen tree that typically grows to 20 m tall and 10 m wide. It features glossy, green leaves that have a waxy appearance and smell of camphor when crushed. In spring, it produces masses of small, white flowers amidst the foliage which are followed by clusters of black berries. Cinnamomum camphora is commonly used as a shade tree, screen, windbreak, added into mixed plantings in a large garden, or used to line an entrance.

Cinnamomum camphora Details

Cinnamomum camphora, commonly known as the Camphor Tree, is a picturesque, evergreen tree that typically grows to 20 m tall and 10 m wide. It features glossy, green leaves that have a waxy appearance and smell of camphor when crushed. New foliage emerges orange-purple but quickly age to green. In spring, it produces masses of small, white flowers amidst the foliage which are followed by clusters of black berries. This tree is best grown in full sun on a well-drained site and it is tolerant of mild frost, cool climates, and exposed positions. Cinnamomum camphora is commonly used as a shade tree, screen, windbreak, added into mixed plantings in a large garden, or used to line an entrance.
