Monkeys Hand Tree
Commonly known as the Monkeys Hand Tree, this is an evergreen tree grown for its flowers and stature. Amidst the lush, green foliage are borne showy red flowers in summer. The flowers resemble the hands of monkeys, hence the common name. It grows with a rounded shape and can reach 15 m tall and 8 m wide. This tree does best when grown in full sun on a well-drained site that does not dry out. It is tolerant to mild frost once established and benefits from good wind protection. The Monkeys Hand Tree is commonly grown as a specimen in a larger garden where the flowers provide an interesting talking point.
