Cercis siliquastrum Alba, commonly known as the Judas Tree Plant or Tree Cercis Alba, is a mid-sized, deciduous tree grown for its impressive foliage and flowers. The heart shaped leaves emerge copper-green in spring, age to mid-green, then develop yellow and orange tones in autumn before falling. Clusters of white blossoms are borne across the branches just before the foliage emerges and provides for a lovely show. It grows as a single-trunked tree with a broad and rounded canopy to about 8 m tall and 6 m wide and can be trimmed as necessary. Best performance with this tree is achieved when it is planted in full sun on a well-drained, semi-sheltered site. It is tolerant of frost and cool climates. This Judas plant is commonly grown as a specimen tree, planted to border entranceways, included in avenue plantings, or used in a mixed planting.
